Two years ago, Brian Quinn set a goal for himself to do something exercise-related every day in the month of May.
He accomplished that goal.
He was so moved by all the good things that came from it, that he created a whole franchise around the concept!
That was 2006.
Today, Every Day in May is a fitness challenge that people across the country and the world look forward to, that they might reaffirm to themselves that regular exercise is something that has so many positive benefits, to make daily exercise a TOP priority in their lives for an entire month.

This year, the Downtown Fitness Club is getting on board with Every Day in May in three ways...
1.  We are not only making it possible, but affordable, to work with our staff of highly acclaimed, very experienced, certified personal trainers in a group setting every day in May for just $49 for members and $99 for non members.  Details are available by clicking HERE.
2.  We are encouraging anyone and everyone who works in downtown Rochester to ride their bikes to work every day in the month of May.  We will provide a secure place to keep your bikes, as well as use of our locker and shower facilities to make it possible for many to meet this challenge.  It not only will increase any individual's amount of physical activity and level of fitness, but it will collectively reduce our fuel consumption thus lessening our dependence on oil and effectively reduce our carbon footprint, making our city a "greener" place.
3.  Inspired by Brian's challenge and our desire to conserve energy from a pure bottom-line perspective, we are initiating additional "green" measures.  We are making three simple changes to start...1. we are replacing old light bulbs as they burnout with new energy saving bulbs and encourage all members to do the same.  2. we are remembering to use the recyclable wegmans grocery bags in place of plastic and encourage all members to do the same.  3. we are challenging all members to limit their showers at the club and home to 5 minutes and are doing the same.

Kick off Every Day in May on Thursday, May 1st at the Every Day in May first annual "Mayathalon"
Compete with other "Mayathaletes" in the swim, bike and run events.  Log your best distance in each event in a 15 minute timed session in each discipline.  You can compete at your convenience all the hours of operation - 5:30am until 10pm, but you must do all three events consecutively following each other once you begin.
